Improving My ePortfolio
After reading through different articles, I believe I have my work cut out for me. I took the 5302 course about a year and a half ago, and I just finished 5305, so I am a little rusty on remembering what we just learned in 5302. The “Bare Minimum” section of Dr. Harapnuik’s site has reminded me that I may want to restructure the organization of my site (Harapnuik, 2016). I thoroughly enjoyed looking at everyone’s portfolios and thinking about how I want to improve my site.

After meeting with a group to look over ePortfolios, I have seen the difference it makes to have graphics in posts. Even if it’s a quick quote that was already intext. Simple graphics created in Adobe Spark can take a word-heavy post and give readers a break for their eyes with a pretty graphic.

I specifically want to work on finding a way to make my menu organization more practical. Intentionally spending time playing with the themes and settings really has proven to be a successful way to improve my ePortfolio.
Making the ePortfolio my own is something we hear over and over. However, I am excited to have the opportunity to have an entire course dedicated to developing, organizing our thoughts, and improving our site as well as PLN. This is a great opportunity.
Prior to switching from teaching Digital Skills to Math, my students were loving creating their portfolios. Dr. Harapnuik also describes how “a purposefully designed learning portfolio, ideally in the form of an electronic portfolio or eportfolio, would give students a platform that they could show future employers what they have done” (Harapnuik, 2015). It was fun to watch them take ownership and grow excited about the opportunity as well. I hope that I can provide opportunities for my students to continue to use the portfolios to display their learning.
